Premeasure
ingredient
groups
(stir together
ingredient
Group D). Place in small bowls near Bread
Machine. All ingredients
must be at room temperature.

1/2 cup granulated
sugar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

cup chopped walnuts (optional)
cups unbleached all-purpose flour
teaspoon baking soda
teaspoon salt
[] Place ingredient
Group A in pan. Press
SELECT for Mixing. Press START. Mix for I minute,
scraping down sides of pan with spatula if necessary.
[] Add ingredient
Group B. Mix for I minute,
scraping
down sides of pan if necessary.
[] Add ingredient
Group C, then gradually add ingredient
Group D. Mix for I minute,
scraping
down sides of pan
if necessary. Press CLEAR/STOP when dough appears
to be well blended. Do not overmix.
[] Drop dough by rounded
teaspoons
onto greased
baking sheets. Bake in 375°F preheated
oven for
9 to 11 minutes.
Yield: 3 1/zdozen

BUTTER COOKIES
