Are there any cracks in the upholstery hose?
No, is the diverter knob set to 'Tools or Pretreat'?
Yes
Is there any debris stuck in the diverter door (grey oval shaped door inside clear
window to the left of diverter knob)?
No
Switch the diverter knob back and forth from
'Floor Cleaning' to 'Tools or Pretreat' a couple of
times. Does the diverter door click open and
closed properly?
No, proceed to

Fill the Tank-in-Tank with clean tap water and fill the
SmartMix Bottle with tap water
Switch SmartMix Switch to 'normal' and use machine
on concrete to suck up a quantity of clean water.
