Effective Range of the Flash
When you record an image using the flash, the effective range
of the flash is about 0.6-2.0m in Tele mode and 0.6-2.5m in
Wide mode. If the light from the flash does not reach the
subject, the subject will appear dark in the image.

Set the mode dial to [

blinking).
The flash mode will change each time the button is
pressed.

Press the shutter release button.
When the flash fires, the flash LED (red) will light
when the shutter release button is pressed lightly.
The flash LED blinks while the flash is being charged
and the display disappears from the LCD monitor.
Pictures cannot be taken at this time.
Important
• If you use the flash when taking a subject at close range (about
0.6m or less), the light from the flash may appear red. This
also causes overexposure so the subject may appear white in
the picture. At such times, select Flash Off mode.
• The shutter speed will automatically become slower in low
light conditions. Hold the camera steady to avoid camera
shake. Be particularly careful when using Tele mode (

• The flash will not fire in the following cases.
- When the recording mode is set to Continuous Shooting,
Motion Picture or Voice Memo
- When the white balance is set to daylight, overcast, tungsten
or fluorescent lighting
