!. INTRODUCTION 1. Outline This Instruction Manual describes the production support function which is enabled by installing the IP (Intellgent Panel) on the sewng machne and operatng t. The IP measures the operatonal status of the sewing machine and records it. In addition, it visually indicates the recorded data to help improve efficiency in sewing work from various points of view. The measured and recorded data on the sew- ing machine operation can also be loaded into a personal computer by way of a medium. By collecting and loading operation data from two or more sewing machines into a personal computer, not only the detailed analysis of the operational status with SMDAA (Sewing Management Data Analysis Application software) but also the accumulation of the analyzed data are enabled. With those analyzed and accu- mulated data, efficiency improving activities for the entire sewing plant can be carried out continuously. Refer to the Instruction Manual for SMDAA for the SMDAA. The production support function by means of the IP is categorized into four functional parts, i.e., work management functon, ptch tme montor functon, sewng recorder functon and producton manage- ment function. Each of them has its own support capability. Use them by selecting an appropriate one according to your needs. It should be noted that the work management function cannot be disabled since it manages data on the sewng machne operaton. Operaton of the other three functons can be changed over between the enable and dsable. (1) Work management function To use the work management function, work history data such as the operator ID, product number and process number, which are to be embedded in the operation data recorded by each sewing machine, should be entered. The SMDAA carries out operational status analysis based on those peces of data. Ths functon s also used when loadng the operaton data from the sewng machne nto a personal computer. (2) Pitch time monitor function With the pitch time monitor function, it is possible to specify an arbitrary target section to monitor the transition of the production volume (i.e., the quantity of sewn items) per unit time and the pitch time distribution and display them on the IP as a bar chart. In addition, the operational status such as the total production volume and average pitch time in the specified section can be analyzed and indicated numerically. Through these capabilities, the sewing work can be monitored over a long time and visually analyzed to enable tracking down of the time when a problem has occurred.
