An exhaust restrictor is built into exhaust vent at the rear of the fireplace. It is used to adjust the flow rate of exhaust gases. Depending upon vent configuration, you may be required to adjust the restrictor. The charts for acceptable vent configurations detail the correct vent restrictor position.
