What happens if...?

This chapter includes some suggested solutions if certain problems arise with your creative 4874. Of course your Pfaff
dealer will always be available to provide more information and assistance
Problem
Needle breaks
Thread breaks
Stitches skipped
Stitches not properly
formed
The seam track of the
3- or 4-thread
overlock seam
is irregular, so that
the upper looper
is not supplied
with thread.
The machine does not
operate even
though the power switch
is on.
The fabric is not
being cut cleanly.
Cause
The needle is bent
or the tip is damaged.
The needle has not been
fully inserted
The fabric was pulled out
too sharply
Threading is incorrect
The thread will not feed
Thread tension is too tight
The needle has not been
fully inserted
Wrong needle used
The needle is bent or the

Remedy
Replace the needle (see page 2-9).
Insert the needle fully and correctly (see page 2-9).
Do not pull fabric while sewing.
Thread correctly.
Check whether the thread on the thread stand etc. is
jammed.
Correct thread tensions (see chapter 7).
Insert the needle fully and correctly (see page 2-9).
Use needle system EL X 705.
Insert new neeedle.
Insert the needle fully and correctly (see page 2-9).
Use needle system EL X 705.
Thread correctly.
Reset thread tension (see chapter 7).
The converter must be removed (see page 2-29).
Close the front cover or swivel table.
Move the top/deco switch lever to the correct position
(see page 5-3).
Clean knives.
Replace the upper knife (see page 9-3).
