Cutting safety
Do n ot cut any material other than wood or w ooden objects.
For respiratory protection, wear an aerosol protection mask when
cutting the w ood after insecticide has been applied.
Keep others including children, animals, bystanders and helpers
outside the h azard zone, Stop the e ngine immediately ifyou a re
approached.
Hold the u nit/machine firmly with the r ight hand on the r ear
handle and the l eft hand on the f ront handle.
Keep firm footing and balance. Do n ot over-reach.
Keep all parts of y our body away from t he m uffler and cutting
attachment when the e ngine is running.
Keep Bar/Chain below waist level.
Before felling a tree, the o perator must be accustomed to the
sawing techniques of t he c hain saw.
Be s ure to pre-plan asafe exit from a failing tree.
While cutting, hold saw f irmly with both hands with thumb firmly
locked around front handle, and stand with feet well balanced
and your body balanced.
Stand to the s ide of t he s aw w hen cutting never directly behind it.
Always keep the s piked bumper face toa tree, because the c hain
may suddenly be drawn into atree.
When completing acut, be ready tohold up the u nits as itbreaks
into c lear, so itwill not follow through and cut your legs, feet or
body, or c ontact an obstruction.
Be a lert against kickback (when saw k icks up and back at
operator). Never cut with the n ose of t he b ar.
When relocating to anew w ork area, be sure to shut off t he
machine and ensure that all cutting attachments are s topped.
Never place the m achine on the g round when running.
Always ensure that the e ngine is shut off a nd any cutting
attachments have completely stopped before clearing debris or
removing grass from t he c utting attachment.
Always carry a first-aid kit when operating any power equipment.
Never start or r un t he e ngine inside aclosed room or b uilding
and/or near the i nflammable liquid. Breathing exhaust fumes can
kill.

Transport and storage
* Carry the uniVmachine by hand with the engine stepped and the
muffler away from your body.
Allow the engine to cool, empty the fuel tank, and secure the unit/
machine before storing or transporting in a vehicle.
Empty the fuel tank before storing the unit/machine, it is
recommended that the fuel be emptied after each use. If fuel is
left in the tank, store so fuel will not leak.
Store unit/machine out of the reach of children.
Clean and maintenance the unit carefully and store it in a dry
place.
Make sure engine switch is off when transporting or storing.
When transporting in a vehicle or storage, cover chain with chain
cover.
if situations occur which are not covered in this manual, take care
and use common sense. Contact HiTACHi dealer if you need
assistance. Pay special attention to statements preceded by the

Maintenance safety
Maintain the unit/machine according to recommended
procedures.
Disconnect the spark plug before performing maintenance except
for carburetor adjustments.
Keep others away when making carburetor adjustments.
Use only genuine HITACHI replacement parts as recommended
by the manufacturer.
CAUTION!
Do not disassemble the recoil starter on. You may get a possibility
of personal injury with recoil spring.
