GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliancemust be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown,grounding
provides a path of least resistancefor electrical current to reducethe risk of electric
shock. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding
conductor(C)and grounding plug (A).The plug must be plugged into an appropriate
outlet (B) that is propedy installed and grounded in accordancewith all local codes
and ordinances.
DANGER:
I mproper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can
result in the risk of electric shock. Checkwith a qualifiedelectricianor serviceperson
if youare in doubtas to whetherthe outletis properlygrounded.Donot modifythe plug
providedwith the appliance- if it will notfit the outlet,havea properoutlet installedby
a qualifiedelectrician.This applianceis for use on a nominal120 volt circuit and has
a grounding plug that looks like the plug (A) illustratedin sketch (Fig.1). A temporary
adapter (D) may be used to connectthis plug to a 2-pole receptacle(E) if a properly
grounded outlet is not available(Fig. 2). The temporary adaptershould be used only
until a properly groundedoutlet (B) can be installedby a qualifiedelectrician (Fig.1).
:The green colored rigid ear, lug, or the like (F) extendingfrom the adapter must be
connectedto a permanent ground (G) such as a properlygrounded outlet box cover
(Fig. 2). Wheneverthe adapter is used, it must be held in place by a metal screw.
NOTE:In Canada,the use of a temporaryadapter is not permitted by the Canadian
Electricalcode.
