Transferring business tasks from Continuous Access Synchronous secondary to primary
site (in 3DC multitarget configuration)
If you remove failures from the primary site and other locations and then the system is changed to
3DC multitarget configuration, you can transfer your business tasks back to the primary site.
To transfer your business tasks back to the primary site, follow the procedure below. RAID Manager
(RAID Manager) is used in this procedure:
1.
Use RAID Manager to release the current Continuous Access Journal pair, which extends
between the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site and the Continuous Access
Synchronous secondary site.
2.
Stop business tasks at the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site.
3.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
4.
Use the primary volume at the primary site to resume your business tasks.
5.
Use RAID Manager to create a Continuous Access Journal pair. Ensure that the Continuous
Access Journal P-VOL is a volume in the primary site, and that the Continuous Access Journal
S-VOL is a volume in the Continuous Access Journal secondary site.
The system configuration returns to the original 3DC multitarget configuration.

Recovering from primary site failures (when delta resync operation is performed)

If a disaster or failure occurs only in the primary site of a 3DC multitarget system, use secondary
volume in the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site to enable the secondary site to take
over your business tasks. After transferring your business tasks to the secondary site, remove the
failure from the primary site so that you can transfer your business tasks back to the primary site.
To transfer your business tasks to the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site, follow the
procedure shown next:
1.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
2.
Use the Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL to resume your business tasks.
3.
Check the execution result of the horctakeover command.
4.
When the primary/secondary relationship of the Continuous Access Synchronous pair is not
reversed (meaning that the copy direction is not reversed), or when the primary/secondary
relationship of the Continuous Access Synchronous pair is reversed (when the copy direction
is reversed), in either case use RAID Manager to perform delta resync operation on the volume
in the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site.
When you perform delta resync operation on the volume in the Continuous Access Synchronous
secondary site, the status of the data volumes of Continuous Access Journal pair changes as
explained in the following table.
