Recovery in a 3DC cascade configuration

If a disaster or failure occurs in the primary site of a 3DC cascade configuration, you transfer
business operations to the intermediate Continuous Access Synchronous secondary volume (S-VOL)
site.
After this is done, the primary site should be corrected and brought back online. Then, you have
choices for proceeding: re-create the cascading configuration, or change the Continuous Access
Journal/Continuous Access Synchronous configuration to multitarget. These procedures are described
in the following sections.
To transfer business operations to the secondary site
1.
Check consistency of the Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL in the intermediate site.
2.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
3.
Wait until the Continuous Access Synchronous S-VOL in the intermediate site becomes
suspended (in SSWS status) or changes into a Continuous Access Synchronous P-VOL.
After the S-VOL becomes suspended or changes into P-VOL, you can use the volume to resume
your business tasks.

Recovering from primary site disaster in 3DC multitarget configuration

If a disaster or failure occurs only in the primary site in 3DC multitarget system, you can use
secondary volume in the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site to enable the secondary
site to take over your business tasks. After transferring your business tasks to the secondary site,
you need to remove the failure from the primary site, so that you can transfer your business tasks
back to the primary site.
To transfer your business tasks to the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site, follow the
procedure below. RAID Manager (RAID Manager) is used in this procedure:
1.
Use RAID Manager to release the Continuous Access Journal pair.
2.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access
Synchronous pair.
3.
Use the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary volume to resume your business tasks.
