NOTE:Yourlog splitteris shippedwith motoroil in the engine.However,
youMUSTcheckthe oil levelbeforeoperating. B e carefulnot tooverfill.

NOTE:All referencesin this manualto the left or right sideof the log
splitterare from theoperatingpositiononly.See OperatorZonein the
Operationsectionof the Safetyinstructions.
UNPACKING
& ASSEMBLING
THE LOG
SPLITTER
TOOLS NEEDED: Safetyglasses, l eather g loves, w irecutters, p rybar
and/orclawhammer.
1.
Use a pry bar or claw hammerto loosenand removethe topof
thecrate.
2.
Use a pry bar or claw hammerto removethe sidesof thecrate,
beginningwith the short sides (or left and rightsideof the log
splitter).Setthe sides of the crateasideto avoid injury.
3.
Onthefrontsideofthecratethetongueassembly is attached on the
insideof thecratewitha cabletie.Cutthecabletieto remove tongue.
4.
Removethe largeplasticcoverand discard.
Do NOTremoveanywoodor cut any strapssecuringthe log splitter
I or its components to the log splitteror thecrate at this time. Only
removestrapsand/orwoodwhen instructedto do so.
5.
inspectthe bottomof the crate for anyprotrudingstaplesor wood
splintersand remove.
6.
Removeany looseparts includedwith the log splitter(i.e. opera-
tot's manual,etc.).
7.
Removethe four hexbolts and lock nuts for securingadjustable
jack standfrom hardwarepack.
8.
Placetheadjustablejack standhalfwaybetweenthe beam
support/latchbracketand end of thetongue. See Figure1.
9.
Insertthe hex boltsthroughtop holesin the jack stand mounting
bracketsand holesin the adjustablejack stand.Securewith lock
nuts.
10. Insertthe hex boltsthroughthe upperholesin the bottomof the
mountingbracketsand adjustable jack stand.Securewith lock
nuts.
11. The adjustable jack stand is raisedbyturningthe crankclockwise
and loweredby turningcounter-clockwise.
12. Withthelogsplitterstillsecured tothebottomofthecrate,remove two
hexboltsandhexnutsfromthetankbracket andremove thepieceof
woodinsidethetankbrackets. SeeFigure 2.
