Service Spark Plug
1. Cleanthe sparkplug and resetthe gap to .030"at leastonce a
seasonor every 50 hoursof operation.
2. Cleanthearea aroundthe sparkplug. Removeand inspectthe
spark plug.
3. Replacethe spark plug if the electrodesare pitted,burnedor the
porcelainis cracked.
NOTE:Contacta SearsPartsand RepairCenteror 1-800-4-MY-
HOME®for a replacementsparkplug,Champion®partnumber
RJ19LM.
4. Checkthe electrodegap with a wirefeelergaugeand resetthe
gap to .030inches.See Figure26.

HOSE CLAMPS
Beforeeachusecheckall the hoseclampsto see if theyare tight.
FLEXIBLE PUMP COUPLER
The flexiblepumpcoupleris a nylon"spider"insert,locatedbetween
the pumpand the engineshaft. Overtime,the couplerwill harden
and deteriorate.If youdetectvibrationor noisecomingfrom the area
betweentheengine and the pumpcontacta SearsService Center.If
the couplerfails completely,youwill experiencea loss of power.
TIRES
The maximumpressurefor the tires is 30 psi. Do notexceedthe
manufacturer's recommendedpsiunder anycircumstances. M aintain
equal pressureon all tires.
Excessivepressurewhenseatingbeadsmaycause thetire/rim
assemblyto burstwith force sufficientto cause seriousinjury.Refer
to sidewallof the tirefor the recommended pressure.

NOTE: Donot sandthe sparkplug.The spark plugshouldbe cleaned
with a wirebrushand a commercialsolvent.
Clean Engine
1. Cleantheengine periodically, b y removingdirt and debriswith a
cloth or brush.
NOTE:Cleaningwith a forcefulsprayof wateris not recommended as
watercouldcontaminate the fuel system.
2. Toensuresmoothoperationof theengine,keepthe governor
linkage,springsand controlsfreeof debris.
3. Every 100hoursof operation,removecombustiondepositsfrom
topof cylinder,head,top of pistonand aroundvalves.
Do notat any time makeanyadjustmentswithoutfirststopping
theengine,disconnecting spark plugwireand groundingit against
theengine.Alwayswearsafetyglassesduringoperationor while
[ performng anyadjustmentsor repars.
