3.4 Remedies for Error Messages

The following tables explains the error messages and remedies.

Description
See 3.5 Remedies for Service Call Error on page 74.
A firmware bug, or some circuit component(s) on the main board is (are)
damaged.
The power is turned On without removing the protective material for the print
head.
A paper jam has occurred.
The PE sensor detected paper is still in the paper feed path. Torn scrap of paper
or some foreign matter may exist.
Paper feeding was physically interrupted.
No maintenance cartridge has been installed.
The maintenance cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer.
The printer cannot read/write data from/to the CSIC of the maintenance
cartridge properly.
The cover of the maintenance cartridge is open.
The maintenance cartridge cover sensor cannot detect that the cover is closed.
The PW sensor cannot detect the paper when the PF motor has driven a
predetermined number of steps.
Paper feeding was physically interrupted.
Turn the printer Off and reboot it after waiting for a while. If a Service Call
error occurs, see
troubleshooting.
Remove the protective material.
Remove the jammed paper and load paper correctly.
Check the paper feed path around the PE sensor and remove any scrap of paper
or foreign matter.
Check the paper feed path and remove any scrap of paper or foreign matter.
Install a maintenance cartridge.
Remove the maintenance cartridge and reinstall it correctly. If this does not
solve the problem, replace the cartridge with a new one.
Replace the maintenance cartridge with a new one.
Close the maintenance cartridge cover.
Check the cover. If any damage is observed, replace it with a new one.
Check that the following connectors are connected correctly.

Replace the maintenance cartridge cover sensor.

Remove the paper and load paper correctly.
Check the paper feed path and remove any scrap of paper or foreign matter.
