Removal

Follow these steps to remove the board computer from its card cage:
1 Shut down the system.
2 Loosen the captive screws, as shown in Figure 5-4. Loosen screws 1, 2, 3, and 4 for a
dual slot Model 744 (the factory default), and loosen screws 1, 2, 3 , 4, 5, and 6 for a
three slot Model 744.
3 Swing both ejector levers outwards and pull the board computer forward out of the
chassis
If you are replacing a defective Model 744 board, continue with Step 4, otherwise go to
the section of this chapter that pertains to the FRU with which you are concerned.

Replacement

1 After removing all the accessories, place them on the new/exchange board and return
the failed board to Hewlett-Packard.
2 Install the new Model 744 board computer in the chassis and reconnect any cables or
peripherals.
