To select MIDI notes, do one of the following:
With the Pencil tool or any Grabber tool,
Shift-click each note.
With any Grabber tool, move the cursor to
where there are no notes (the Marquee appears)
and click and draw a rectangle around the group
of notes.

When using a Grabber tool, if any portion of the
rectangle touches a note (either its start or end
point), the note is included in the selection. Se-
lections made with a Grabber tool do not in-
clude underlying controller and automation
data for the MIDI track.
With the Selector tool, drag across a range of
notes.

When using the Selector tool, a note's start
point must be included in order for it to be se-
lected. When a MIDI or Instrument track is in
Notes or Regions View, selections made with the
Selector tool include underlying controller and
automation data.

To select a single pitch for the entire length of a
track:
Start-click (Windows) or Command-click
(Mac) a key on a MIDI or Instrument track's
mini-keyboard. The selected note will playback
through the MIDI or Instrument track's assigned
output.
Selecting all instances of a note with the mini-keyboard
To select a range of notes on a MIDI or Instrument
track, do one of the following:
Start-Shift-click (Windows) or Command-
Shift-click (Mac) a bottom key and a top key on
a MIDI or Instrument track's mini-keyboard.
– or –
Start-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac)
and drag across a range of keys on a MIDI or In-
strument track's mini-keyboard.
Selecting a range of notes with the mini-keyboard
On Windows, Control-Shift-click to play
the notes when making a selection on a
track's mini-keyboard.
To deselect one or more notes from a selection:
With the Pencil tool or any Grabber tool,
Shift-click the notes so they become deselected.
You can also select notes in the Select/Split
Notes window. See "Select/Split Notes" on
page 501.
