Dealing with a Boot Failure

If the workstation's usual boot device (typically a disk) is not responding as it should,
you must attempt to boot from the disk (or another boot device) by selecting it manu-
ally.
To boot a device manually, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the power to the workstation, wait a few seconds, then turn the power
back on.
2.
Press and hold
Selecting a system to boot.
To stop selection process, press and hold the ESCAPE
key.
Release
Esc
Selection process stopped.
A short time later, this message appears:
Searching for potential boot devices.
To terminate search, press and hold the ESCAPE key.
The workstation is now searching for devices that may hold file systems from
which it can boot HP–UX. As they are found, they appear in a list, similar to
the following sample list:

This process may take several minutes. You can terminate the search at any
time by pressing
