Checking Print Job Status

With the Windows Printing System, you can track and control your print jobs in
two ways:
The Windows Printing System Printer Status Window tells you exactly what is
happening with the current print job and printer. You can use the Printer Status
Window to pause, resume, or delete the current print job, and you can access
online Help for the Windows Printing System.
Print Manager helps you control and manage all print jobs in a queue for all
printers installed for Windows.
This chapter introduces the Printer Status Window and explains how to open and
work with it, how to handle messages displayed within it and how to customize
the display.
In addition, this chapter explains new functions of the enhanced version of Print
Manager included with the Windows Printing System.
While working in the Printer Status Window or with Print Manager,
remember that you can get online Help at any time by selecting commands from
that window's Help menu, or by pressing F1.

A Window to Your Printer

The Printer Status Window uses animated graphics to show exactly what is
happening to the printer and to the document being printed. At a glance you can see
the Windows Printing System at work on your document.
The Printer Status Window has a title bar that identifies your printer, a menu bar
for commands, and a toolbar. The toolbar has the same three buttons the Print
Manager window has to Pause print, Resume print, and Delete the current print job.
