Place the anchor between the 2 bars of the headrest on the passenger seat (7). Once the anchor has been
7
secured, both headrests can be adjusted into the desired positions. The anchor cannot be used if the
passenger seat is not equipped with a headrest. The anchor is not an essential part of the safety of the
child; it is only used to keep the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR stable.
The elastic may lose its stretch in time. The elastic tensioner is used to create more tension in the elastic.
GB
Pull the elastic tensioner upwards out of the anchor (8,1/8,2). Wrap the elastic around the tensioner until
8
the desired tension has been achieved (8,3).
Note: Pull the elastic towards you!
Place the tensioner back in the anchor.
The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR can be adjusted into 2 positions (sitting and reclining) (9).
9
• With one hand, pull the booster seat forward using the handle on the front and then pull or push the seat
10
forward or backward into the desired position. At the same time, use your other hand to hold down the
front of the Comfort Base (10).
Once the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR has been positioned as desired, you may place your child in the car seat.
Note: Never adjust the position while a child is in the seat or when driving!

3. PLACING A CHILD IN THE MAXI-COSI RODI XR

Read the "The seat belt" section before placing your child in the car seat. Have your child sit in the Maxi-
11
Cosi Rodi XR (11) with his back firmly against the backrest. Make sure that the child is positioned in the
middle of the car seat and not leaning forward away from the backrest. Also make sure there are no toys or
other hard objects in the shell.
Pull the seat belt around your child. Thread the lap belt under both armrests (11,1). When threaded
11
properly, the belt runs along the red plastic belt guides in the car seat. Fasten the seat buckle (11,2) and
pull the lap belt tightly. Make sure that the lap belt does not press against the child's stomach but runs
across his hips, and that it is secured tightly. This way, in the case of an accident, a large percentage of the
crash forces will be transferred to the pelvis region.
Thread the shoulder belt under the armrest through the belt guides and then through the red belt hook in
11
the headrest (11,3). Make sure the belt is not twisted and that it is resting on the child's shoulder. Make
sure the headrest has been adjusted to the proper height. The correct height can be determined as follows:
• Make sure that the red belt hooks are located at least 10 mm above the child's shoulders (12).
12
• Adjust the height of the headrest until the belt runs from the belt hook to the seat belt retractor in as
13
straight a line as possible (13).
• Make sure that the belt is not resting against the child's neck. Lower the headrest if necessary to prevent this.
• If the car seat belt is height adjustable, you can optimise the routing of the belt by adjusting its height.
• Pull the shoulder belt tight.
When removing the child from the seat, you only need to release the seat belt buckle and pull the belt away
from the front of the child. The belt will remain threaded through the red belt hook. This makes is easier to
buckle up the child again in the same position. When not in use, secure the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR with the seat
belt.
CAUTION: The tighter the seat belts around the child, the better protected the child.
