3D measuring types
In the 3D Measurement Tool palette, you can choose any of the following options from
the 3D Measure Type menu.
Auto
In Auto mode, the system tries to display the measurement that makes most sense given
the initial selection and the current pointer position. If you select a straight edge and then
move the pointer back over the same edge, then the length of that edge is shown. If you
select a straight edge and then move the pointer over an edge that is perpendicular to that
edge, the perpendicular distance between the two edges is shown. If you select a straight
edge and then move the pointer over an edge that is not perpendicular to that edge, the
angle between the two edges is shown. If you select a circular edge, the radius of that edge
is shown.
Ruler
In Ruler mode, only points may be selected to allow measuring between any two points on
the model.
Distance
In Distance mode, only distance measurements are taken when you select points and
edges.
Radius
In Radius mode, you can take radius measurements only by selecting either circular edges
or three points defining a circle.
Angle
In Angle mode, you can measure only the angle between two straight edges or three points.
