Using the 3D Tool to add a 3D model
You can use the 3D Tool to embed a 3D file on a page of a PDF document. When you
embed the 3D file, you may include a JavaScript file to add extra functionality, such as
custom menus, tools, and animations, and you can specify a preview frame to represent
the image when the 3D content is not enabled. If the 3D file lacks lighting, Acrobat
automatically enables lighting.
After you embed your 3D file, you can adjust the 3D area, edit the presentation properties
for the 3D toolbar and content, and create additional views.
To embed a 3D file into a PDF document:
1. Choose Tools > Advanced Editing > 3D Tool.
2. Double-click or drag a rectangle on the page to create the canvas area for the 3D file.
3. Under 3D Model, do one of the following:
Click Browse to select the 3D file. Then select the 3D file and click Open.
Click Capture to capture a 3D model from another application. Open the 3D window, and
then press the Print Screen key. Click Settings to change capture settings. (See
3D models from 3D CAD
4. (Optional) To include a JavaScript (JS) file, click Browse and select the file.
Note: If the JavaScript file has the same name as the 3D file, it loads automatically when
you select the 3D file.
5. Specify navigation and display settings, such as default background color and default
lighting, and then click OK. In addition to the options found on the General panel of the
Acrobat 3D Conversion dialog box, you can also open the Model Tree tab when the 3D
model is activated. For more information on these settings, see
6. In the Acrobat 3D Conversion dialog box, specify the appropriate settings, and click OK.
