After you connect the cables and turn on power to the appliance, the Ethernet
link LEDs on both the fiber-optic 10 Gigabit Ethernet NIC and on the remote
equipment illuminate to indicate the connection. The link LEDs on the NIC
illuminate after internal components initialize.
The IP2255 appliances can accommodate up to two fiber-optic 10 Gigabit
Ethernet NICs.
Fiber-Optic 10 Gigabit Ethernet NIC Connectors and
Cables
To connect the fiber-optic 10 Gigabit Ethernet NIC to other network
components, use a floating (not rigid) multi-mode (for short-range interfaces)
or single-mode (for long-range interfaces) duplex SC optical connector for
each NIC interface. The destination end of the cable can be either LC or SC,
depending on the type of connector required for the destination 10 Gigabit
Ethernet device. You can also use a half-duplex SC-to-SC cable to loop back
the transmit port of an interface to the receiver port. LC and SC define the
fiber-optic connector types; LC connectors are smaller than SC connectors.
An LC-to-SC cable is included with single-port fiber-optic 10 Gigabit
Ethernet NICs. You can order additional 10GBASE-SR (for short-range
