    With these operating instructions (also referred to as instructions in the following), we would like to give the user and operator useful information on how to operate the ATMOS examination and treatment chair (also referred to as chair in the following) safely and appropriately.

    1.4 Service instructions Service instructions can be provided upon request. They will help the service technicians of the specialized dealers authorized by us or other specialized personnel authorized by the operator when subjecting the chair to maintenance or repairs. 1.5 Type plate The type plate of the chair can be found either on the plastic cover of the bottom part on the back (electrical height adjustment) or on the cover of the hydraulic pump on the back (hydraulic height adjustment) (not illustrated).

    The main purpose of the safety information is to prevent personal injury. The safety information is also intended to help avoid material damage. As operator, you have acquired an ATMOS Chair. You are therefore also responsible for operating it appropriately as intended.

    2.2 Device safety ATMOS chairs are manufactured in compliance with the applicable national and interna- tional standards and provisions according to the current state of the art. This chair meets the demands on safety and functionality. It bears the CE mark, which documents the fulfilment of the basic requirements for medical products.

    2.4 Intended use The ATMOS Chair is a medical chair used by patients in health facilities such as hospitals, clinics and medical practices, including those of medical officers. It is intended exclusive- ly for use in buildings and under normal ambient conditions.
  • Page 9: Reasonably Foreseeable Misuse

    2.4.1 Reasonably foreseeable misuse Dangers can be caused by reasonably foreseeable misuse. A few examples of “reasonably foreseeable misuse” are specified in the following (no claim to completeness). • Use nearby high-frequency surgical devices, MRI devices or defibrillators. • Use in environments where flammable or explosive gases or vapours (e.g. anaesthetics) can be expected. • Overloading of the chair beyond the maximum specified patient weight. • Use in operating theatres. • Use as an OP chair or table. • Use as a work chair. •...

    3 Putting the chair into service How to prepare the chair for use, including the final inspection of functional safety is described in the chapter on putting the chair into service (see chapter “3.6 Inspection before putting the chair into service and re-assigning it” on page 13). It is neither necessary nor intended to employ specially trained and instructed service personnel to put the chair into service.

    Configuration options There are basically two different versions of the ATMOS chairs. They vary in terms of the way the height is adjusted. The height is adjusted either hydraulically (ATMOS Chair Comfort) or electrically (ATMOS Chair Professional). A version with hydraulic height adjustment can never be combined with electrical back adjustment and synchronous electrical adjustment of the backrest and leg rest or even separate electrical adjustment of the back- rest and leg rest.

    The packaging material must be disposed of appropriately, separated in material groups, according to the applicable national regulations. Contact your operator, your local communities, disposal companies or your local ATMOS contact in the event of queries. 12 Putting the chair into service...
  • Page 13: Prerequisites At The Place Of Use

    3.5 Prerequisites at the place of use An appropriate mains supply and, if necessary, a potential equalization connection is required at the place of use for the operation of the chair. The chair must always be connected to the potential equalization, provided it is available and this is allowed by the domestic installation (see chapter “4.7 Potential equalization pin”...
  • Page 14 Any deficiencies or damage found must be rectified immediately. The chair must not be used before the deficiencies or damage have been rectified. Danger of injury due to a defective chair. WARNING The chair must not be operated in a defective or faulty condition in which the chair could endanger the patient, user or a third party. A defective or faulty chair must be marked clearly with “DEFECTIVE”. The chair must be marked in such a manner that the defective condition can be identified clearly by anyone.

    4 Operation The functions of the chair and its performance features are introduced in the operation chapter. Prerequisites for operation The chair must be operated and used only as intended according to the generally approved rules of technology as well as the applicable national regulations for occupa- tional safety and accident prevention at the place of use.

    WARNING Danger of injury due to using unsuitable accessories. Only original accessories of ATMOS may be used. The attachment of accessories (e.g. restraint straps etc.) from other manufacturers is the responsibility of the operator and is subject to their due diligence.

    4.3 Basic position The chair must be put into its basic position whenever patients sit down in the chair or want to stand up from it and possibly before manoeuvring it. • Move the height of the seat to the very bottom (see chapter “4.9 Height adjustment”).

    4.10 Locking the top part NOTICE The lower arms of the patient must be in a normal position on the arm supports. Hydraulic versions – Turning the top part of the chair The top part of the chair of hydraulic versions can always be rotated fully 360°.

    4.11 Headrest Headrest – Setting the inclination The inclination of the headrest upholstery (1) can be set gradually. To do so, release the release lever (2) and set the upholstery as desired. Then retighten the release lever. Headrest – Setting the height The height of the entire headrest can be set gradually.

    4.13 Setting the foot support Folding out and in The foot support (1) can be manually folded out and in as required. It is used to safely set down the feet of the patient during the treatment. To do so, fold the foot support out and in.

    4.14 Manoeuvring Mobile | Complete variants How to extend or retract the roller device (movable bottom part only) is described here. The roller device is used only to manoeuvre (no transport over long distances) the unoccupied chair, e.g. to clean the floor etc., and never to transport patients. CAUTION Danger of falling or accidents due to the disengaged roller device. Make sure the chair cannot start to move on its own.

    4.15 Patients sitting down and standing up Make sure the patient sits in the middle of the seating surface. The patient must not sit on the arm rest, backrest or leg rest. Do not allow patients to stand with their full weight on the foot support.

    5 Equipment variants Each ATMOS Chair can be equipped with different equipment variants. It may be very easy or quite complicated to retrofit the chair (after the initial delivery), depending on the variant. 5.1 Premium material The premium cover material allows the chair to be equipped in an even more custom- ized manner. Different colour combinations create highlights and express creativity. You can find the available colours from the current colour collection. 5.2 Synchronous foot support with tread plate (folding) When moving the backrest, the tread plate moves synchronously with the current position of the backrest.

    (e.g. water hardness) may vary considerably. No legally binding assurance of certain properties can be derived from this. Damage to the surface coating and cover material for which ATMOS is not liable may arise if unsuitable cleaning agents and disinfectants are used or in the event of an incorrect mixing ratio or insufficient care of the chair.   • Page 31 CARE With the ATMOS Chair, you have selected a product with a high-quality synthetic leather covering. It is phthalate free. Due to the omission of phthalates (softening agents), the material is less resistant against incorrect cleaning or disinfection than you are ac- customed to from previous chair models. That is why additional treatment of the cover material with a synthetic leather care product is recommended.

    7 Troubleshooting The troubleshooting chapter contains information on potential malfunctions that can be rectified by the user themself. It is neither necessary nor intended to employ specially trained and instructed service personnel for troubleshooting. Safety information for troubleshooting (electrical versions only) DANGER Lethal danger due to electric shock. The user must by no means attempt to rectify malfunctions to electrical components themself.

    7.1 Control system RESET The control system RESET (electrical versions only) is described here. Inspection of the operation lock. If the ATMOS Chair can no longer be operated, first check the activation of the operation lock. Mains voltage fluctuations or the like may result in the chair no longer responding and a signal tone being heard. In this case “RESET” the control system. Procedure with foot switch 1.     8 Removing the chair from service 8.1 Service life The service life of the ATMOS Chair is approx. 7 to 10 years depending on the strain and operating conditions and frequency and provided the chair is used as intended and the safety-related inspections (STK) and necessary maintenance measures are observed.

    8.3 Inspection before putting the chair back into service The chair must be cleaned and disinfected before putting it back into service (see chap- ter “6 Cleaning and disinfection”). Danger of infection due to contaminated chair. CAUTION The chair must be cleaned and then disinfected before putting it back into service after storage.

    Alternatively, you can return the electrical components or the entire product to ATMOS free to the kerbside. We will then take care of the appropriate disposal procedures. Gas springs must be depressurized in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications prior to disposal or before draining the oil. You can obtain this information from the respective gas spring manufacturers upon request (see type plate or manufacturer labelling).
