BASIC OPERATIONS ■ Selecting a channel D Regular Channel You can select a channel by pushing [▲] or [▼]. D Channel 16 Channel 16 is the distress and safety channel. It is used to establish the initial contact with a station, and for emergency communications.

BASIC OPERATIONS ■ Weather channels and Weather Alert (For the USA, EXP, and AUS versions) The transceiver has 10 preset Weather channels. The transceivers are capable* of monitoring broadcasts from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The transceiver automatically detects a Weather Alert tone on the selected weather channel, or while scanning.
