Using the IR Port in Windows 95

For optimal performance when using the IR (infrared) port for file transfer, printing,
and other infrared communication, install the NEC Versa Fast Infrared Support driver
from the Application and Driver CD that ships with your system. For details about
using the Application and Driver CD to install additional software, see Chapter 4,
"Using the Operating System and Utilitites."
In addition, you must install your own third-party software to support infrared
communication on your Windows 95 system.

Enabling the IR Port in Windows 98

Your NEC Versa LXi computer ships with the IR port disabled. When you use your
system for the first time, the infrared icon on the right side of the taskbar displays with
an "x." When you move the cursor over the infrared icon, the pop-up displays "Infrared
disabled."
Follow these steps to enable the IR port.
Right click the infrared icon and choose Enable Infrared Communication, highlight

Open to open the Infrared Monitor window, or go to Start, Settings, Control Panel,
and double click the infrared icon.
Select the Options tab and place a check in the box labeled "Enable infrared

Click Apply, then click OK to close the Infrared Monitor window.

Enabling the IR Port in Windows 95

Your NEC Versa LXi system ships with the IR port disabled. Before using the IR port,
use the IR setup utility to enable the port.
Follow these steps to enable the IR port in Windows 95.
1.
Double click the NEC Customize icon on the Windows desktop.
From the display window, select Install IR Setup utility.

Click Launch to initiate the IR Setup utility.
3.
The IR Setup utility windows displays.
4.
Select Enable and click OK.
A message displays indicating that you must reboot your system TWICE to fully
enable the IR port.
