Attach an electronic rev meter to the
spark plug lead.
Start the engine.
Correct engine rpm reading is:
1600 Ø 100 rpm;
125
1600 Ø 100 rpm.

standstill.
If necessary:
Open the helmet compartment.
Unscrew the screw (3) and remove the
protective cover (4)
Turn the adjuster screw (5) on the
carburettor.
TIGHTEN (turn clockwise) to increase rpm.
SLACKEN (turn anticlockwise) to decrease
rpm.

Flip the throttle twistgrip repeatedly to
check for proper operation. Idle speed
should remain steady.
NOTE
Do not disturb the mixture air
screw or you will alter carburation setting.
If needed, contact an aprilia Official
Dealer.

carefully.
There should be 2–3 mm free play in the
throttle twistgrip cable (measured at
twistgrip edge).
If not so:
Place the motorcycle on the centre
stand.
Take off the rubber gaiter (6).
Loosen the locknut (7).
Rotate the adjuster (8) until setting the
specified free play.
After adjusting, tighten the locknut (7)
and check free play again.
Refit the rubber gaiter (6).

WARNING
Turn the handlebar and ensure that
idling speed is unaffected by handlebar
moveme nt. Open th e th rottle a nd
ensure that the twistgrip springs back
to the closed position smoothly and
gradually when released.
