Release the shutter release button.

Position the camera and take a shot of the desired subject.
When you press the shutter release button halfway, the camera autofocuses for the shot.
The shot is taken.

Release the AE button.

Locking the exposure setting and the autofocus

Lock the exposure and the autofocus when you are taking a shot where the subject is not at the center of
the frame. You lock the exposure and autofocus on your subject and then move the camera to take the
shot.
1.
Set the AE switch to P, S, or A.
2.
Set the AF switch to S.
3.
Aim the camera on your subject.
4.
Press and hold down the shutter release button halfway.
The exposure and focus are locked.
5.
Position the camera for the desired shot, and take the shot.
