PROBLEM =| . POSSIBLE CAUSE
Power does not come ON. e Battery pack is exhausted.
e Battery pack terminals are dirty.
e Battery pack incorrectly inserted.
e Dry cells incorrectly inserted.
No sound from the speaker. e [he squelch is closed.
e The Tone Squelch is ON (when UT-40 is in-
stalled).
e Audio volume is low.
e Battery pack is low.
The TRANSMIT INDICA- | e Battery pack is low.
TOR does not light when
[PTT] is pushed.
Can not make a simplex | eTransceiver set to duplex.
contact. e Power set to LOW. Switch to HIGH.
eTone squelch frequency does not equal that of
the other station (when UT-40 is installed).
Can not access a repeater. e [ransceiver is set to simplex.
e Tone frequency is incorrect.
e Offset frequency is incorrect.
e Power set to LOW. Switch to HIGH.
Can not set a frequency. e The LOCK function is ON.
e The Call Channel is displayed.
eYou are using the MEMORY. Switch to the
VFO.
Scans do not function. e T he squelch is open.
e [he Call Channel is displayed.
e The LOCK function is ON.
e Programmed Scan edge frequencies are equal.
e All memory channels are programmed to be
skipped in a Memory Scan.
Audio is distorted. e RIT or VXO is turned ON.
e The signal is off-frequency. Use RIT or VXO to
tune it in.
