Lea cuidadosamente estas instrucciones antes de utilizar la ortesis.
Si tiene alguna duda, consulte a su médico o técnico ortopédico.
Estas ortesis (WHFO) están pensadas para el tratamiento de rigideces
articulares o contracturas de moderadas a severas, de muñeca, mano
y/o dedos, para restablecer el rango de movilidad y mantenerlos en una
posición neutral funcional. Estas ortesis son muy suaves y ligeras pero
suficientemente rígidas como para proporcionar el apoyo y corrección
necesarios.
INDICACIONES:
• Contractura en flexión o hiperextensión de la muñeca, incluido puño
contraído.
• Contractura de mano con o sin desviaciones radiales o cubitales de
la mano.
• Contracturas en flexión o hiperextensión de articulaciones
interfalángicas incluido abducción de pulgar.
• Artritis Reumatoide.
TRATAMIENTO:
Realizar estiramientos pasivos máximos hasta el punto de resistencia
notoria pero sin producir molestia.
1. Las desviaciones cubitales o radiales se pueden tratar mediante una
ligera modificación lateral de la ortesis.
2. Para tratar muñecas en flexión o hiperextensión, dar de 5° a 10° de
estiramiento adicional a la muñeca.
3. En las desviaciones de los dedos, dar forma a la pieza palmar hasta
conseguir de 5° a 10° en la dirección deseada, con lo que lograremos
el estiramiento óptimo de la articulación.
Tras la primera aplicación de la ortesis, los tendones parecerán tensos
pero sin molestias. Después de 10-15 minutos la relajación de los
tendones indica que la articulación ya esta predispuesta al estiramiento
terapéutico. Ir aumentando de forma gradual el tiempo de uso (hasta 6
horas diarias), para lograr efectos de estiramiento duraderos.
El tratamiento ortésico debe durar hasta que la función este restablecida.
Determinar el programa de utilización de acuerdo a la tolerancia del
paciente, su evolución terapéutica y las indicaciones del medico. El
técnico ortopédico es la persona preparada realizar la adaptación del
producto.
ADAPTACIÓN:
La adaptación no exige ninguna herramienta, lo que facilita el ajuste de
la ortesis en la posición deseada.
1. Dar forma a la ortesis en la posición adecuada para el apoyo de
muñeca. Colocar la mano en la férula. Comprobar que la mano y muñeca
quedan en la posición adecuada. Reajustar la férula sí fuese necesario.
Conformar la pieza para adaptar los dedos y el pulgar con el ángulo
deseado.
2. Ajustar la cincha de la mano y después la del antebrazo, con la
suficiente presión para fijar la posición, pero no excesivamente como
para comprometer la circulación sanguínea. Después ajustar y fijar la
cincha de dedos.
3. Vuelva a comprobar la posición de la ortesis para verificar la
colocación conveniente de la muñeca, mano y dedos. Reajustar sí fuera
necesario. A medida que aumente el programa de utilización, el rango
de movimiento debiera mejorar por lo que puede precisar reajustes de
la posición de la ortesis.

PRECAUCIONES:
• El médico es la persona capacitada para prescribir y decidir la
duración del tratamiento. El técnico ortopédico es la persona
preparada para realizar la adaptación del producto.
• Para una máxima eficacia deberá respetar la duración diaria de uso
siguiendo las indicaciones de su médico o técnico ortopédico.
• Para ejercer un efecto terapéutico completo, debe utilizar el producto
con la talla adecuada.
• Ortesis de uso personal e intransferible. No debe utilizarse para uso
de otro paciente.
• Esta ortesis no debe utilizarse para otro uso distinto al que se le haya
prescrito. No permita que los niños jueguen con este dispositivo.
• En las zonas de apoyo con presión, la piel no debe estar lesionada
ni ser hipersensible.
• Verificar al menos cada 2 ó 3 horas, enrojecimientos en la piel,
presiones o falta de confort del paciente. Retirar inmediatamente
la ortesis en caso de irritaciones, presión, dolor o incomodidad
evidentes. No continuar hasta que la integridad cutánea y el confort
estén asegurados.
• Toda interrupción significativa en el programa de utilización
generalmente requerirá de un nuevo período de adaptación. Puede
ser necesario reintroducir gradualmente aumentos progresivos de los
períodos de utilización.
• Se debe evitar el uso de cremas de uso tópico en contacto con la
ortesis durante el tratamiento.
• No llevar puesta la ortesis durante el baño, ducha, etc. Siempre debe
inspeccionarse entre aplicaciones para asegurar que sus elementos
textiles están limpios y en posición adecuada.
• Comprobar al menos mensualmente la adaptación de la ortesis
o cuando el paciente no experimente una sensación de suave
estiramiento posterior a la aplicación.
INSTRUCCIONES DE LAVADO:
Quite la funda textil, cierre todos los velcros y ponga el textil en la bolsa
de lavado (934, 935, 936, 937, 938, 939). Lave con un detergente
neutro. Lavar a máquina a 40°. No usar lejías. No secar en secadora.
No planchar.
Limpie la estructura metálica con un paño humedecido, y séquela con
un paño seco.

Read carefully these instructions before using the orthosis. For any
doubt, consult always your doctor or the healthcare professional. These
orthosis (WHFO) are designed for the treatment of articular rigidities
or mild to severe contractures for the wrist, hand and/ or fingers, in
order to restore the range of mobility and maintain them in a functional
neutral position. These orthosis are very smooth and lightweight, but
sufficiently rigid as to provide the necessary support and correction.
INDICATIONS:
• Contracture in flexion or hyperextension of the wrist, including
contracted fist.
• Contracture of the hand with or without radial or ulnar deviations of
the hand.
• Contractures in flexion or hyperextension of the interphalangeal
articulations including thumb abduction.
• Rheumatoid arthritis.
PRELIMINARY EXERCISES:
Realise passive stretchings to the utmost until the resistance point is
reached but without producing any annoyance.
1. The radial or ulnar deviations can be treated by a slight lateral
modification on the orthosis.
2. For the treatment of flexion or hyperextension wrists, add from 5° to
10° of stretching to the wrist.
3. When fingers deviations, shape the palmar piece until getting from 5°
to 10°in the required direction, so we will obtain the optimal stretching
of the joint.
After the first application of the orthosis, the tendons will seem to be
tense but without any annoyance. After 10-15 minutes, the relaxation
of the tendons indicates that the joint is ready for the therapeutic
stretching. Increase progressively the time of use (up to 6 daily hours), in
order to get lasting effects of stretching. The orthotic treatment should
last until the function is restored. Determine the program of use in
accordance with the patient tolerance, his therapeutic evolution and
the doctor indications. The doctor/healthcare professional is the person
qualified to fit the product.
FITTING:
No tool is needed to be able to conform the orthosis at the required
position.
1. Shape the orthosis to the adequate position for the wrist support.
Place the hand in the splint. Verify that the hand and wrist are in the
suitable position. Re-adjust the splint if it were necessary. Conform the
piece to fit the fingers and the thumb at required angle.
2. Adjust the hand strap and then the forearm one, with the sufficient
pressure to fix the position, but not as strong as to endanger the blood
circulation. Then, adjust and fix the fingers strap.
3. Check again the position of the orthosis to verify adequate positioning
of the wrist, hand and fingers. Re-adjust if it were necessary. As the use
programme increases, the range of movement should improve, and so
some re-adjustments on the orthosis position may be needed.

CAUTIONS:
• For a correct function, you should use the correct size of the orthosis.
• This orthosis is designed for the use on one patient.
• Do not reuse on multiple patients.
• This orthosis should never be used for any other use different to the
one prescribed.
• Do not allow children to play with this device. On the pressure points,
the skin should not be injured nor irritated.
• Check at least every 2 or 3 hours, if it appears reddenings or any
pressures on the skin. Remove immediately the orthosis in case of
irritations, pressure, pain or evident annoyances. Do not continue
until the skin totally recovers its original appearance.
• Avoid the use of creams in contact with the orthosis during the
treatment.
• Do not wear the orthosis when bathing, having a shower, etc .
• Check always that all the textile elements are clean and in adequate
position.
• Check at least each month the adaptation of the orthosis or when
the patient does not experience any sensation of smooth stretching
after the application.
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Textil: remove the textil cover, close all velcros and put the textil in
the washing bag (934, 935, 936, 937, 938, 939). Machine or hand
washing with a neutral detergent. Machine wash 40°. Do not bleach. Do
not tumble dry. Do not iron.
Frame: remove the textil cover, clean with a thin garment with neutral.

Lire soigneusement ces instructions avant d'utiliser l'orthèse. Pour tout
doute, veuillez consulter votre médecin ou technicien orthopédique. Ces
orthèses (WHFO) ont été développées pour le traitement des rigidités
articulaires ou contractures de modérées à sévères, du poignet, main
et/ou doigts, pour rétablir le rang de mobilité et les maintenir dans
un positionnement neutre fonctionnel. Ces orthèses sont très douces
et légères, mais suffisamment rigides comme pour proportionner le
support et correction nécessaires.
INDICATIONS:
• Contracture en flexion ou hyperextension du poignet, inclus poing
contracté.
• Contracture de main avec ou sans déviations radiales ou cubitales
de la main.
• Contractures en flexion ou hyperextension des articulations
interphalangiennes inclus abduction du pouce.
• Arthrite rhumatoïde.
EXERCISES PRÉLIMINAIRES:
Réaliser des étirages passifs, au plus jusqu'à un point de résistance
appréciable mais sans causer de gêne.
1.Les déviations cubitales ou radiales peuvent se traiter avec une légère
modification latérale de l'orthèse.
2.Pour traiter des poignets en flexion ou hyperextension, augmenter de
5° à 10° d'étirage additionnel au poignet.
3.Pour les déviations des doigts, donner forme à la pièce palmaire
jusqu'à obtenir de 5° à 10° dans la direction souhaitée, avec cela nous
obtenons l'étirage optimale de l'articulation.
Après la première application de l'orthèse, les tendons paraîtront
tendus mais sans gênes. Après 10 à 15 minutes la relaxation des
tendons indique que l'articulation est déjà prédisposée pour l'étirage
thérapeutique. Augmenter de forme graduelle le temps d'usage (jusqu'à
6 heures par jour), pour obtenir des effets d'étirage durables.
Le traitement avec cette attelle doit durer jusqu'à ce que la fonction
soit rétablie. Déterminer le programme d'utilisation en accord avec la
tolérance du patient, son évolution thérapeutique et les indications du
médecin. Le technicien orthopédique est la personne adéquate pour
réaliser l'adaptation du produit.
ADAPTATION:
La conformation de l'orthèse au positionnement souhaité n'exige aucun
outil.
1. Donner forme à l'orthèse dans la position adéquate pour le support
du poignet. Placer la main dans l'attelle. Vérifier que la main et le
poignet sont en positionnement convenable. Ajuster à nouveau l'attelle
si besoin. Conformer la pièce pour adapter les doigts et le pouce dans
l'angle souhaité.
2. Ajuster la sangle de la main et après celle de l'avant-bras, avec la
suffisante pression pour fixer le positionnement, mais pas trop fort pour
ne pas gêner la circulation du sang. Après, ajuster et fixer la sangle des
doigts.
3. Vérifier à nouveau le positionnement de l'orthèse pour s'assurer que le
placement du poignet, main et doigts est convenable. Ajuster à nouveau
si besoin. A mesure qu'augmente le programme d'utilisation, le rang de
mouvement devra amélioré, aussi des ajustages du positionnement de
l'orthèse peuvent être nécessaires.

PRÉCAUTIONS:
• Pour obtenir un effet thérapeutique complet, utilisez la taille adéquate
du produit.
• Orthèse d'usage exclusif d'un seul patient. Elle ne doit pas être utilisée
pour l'usage d'un autre patient.
• Cette orthèse ne doit pas être utilisée pour autre indication que celle
prescrite par le médecin traitant.
• Ne pas permettre que les enfants jouent avec ce dispositif.
• Sur les zones d'appui avec pression, la peau doit être ni blessée ni
hypersensible.
• Il est très important de réviser le bon état de la peau au moins chaque
2 ou 3 heures.
• Retirer immédiatement l'orthèse au cas d'irritations, pression, douleur
ou gênes évidentes. Ne pas continuer jusqu'à que l'intégrité cutanée
soit assurée.
• Eviter l'usage de crèmes en contact avec l'attelle pendant le traitement.
• Ne pas porter l'orthèse pendant le bain, la douche, etc.
• Vérifier toujours entre chaque application de l'attelle que ses éléments
textiles sont propres et en positionnement adéquat.
• Vérifier au moins une fois par mois l'adaptation de l'orthèse ou quand
le patient n'expérimente pas une sensation douce d'étirage postérieur
à l'application.
INSTRUCTIONS D'ENTRETIEN ET DE LAVAGE:
Textile: retirer la housse textile, fermer tous les Velcros et mettre le
textile dans la poche de lavage (934, 935, 936, 937, 938, 939). Laver
in avec un savon neutre. Laver à machine 40°. Ne pas utiliser d'eau de
Javel. Ne pas utiliser de sécheuse. Ne pas repasser.
Structure: retirer la housse textile, nettoyer avec un torchon doux et
savon neutre, à basse température. Ne pas utiliser d'eau de Javel .
Sécher étendu à l'air libre.
