  • Page 11: Starting With Murmux

STARTING WITH MURMUX Selecting & Playing a Preset The Murmux Adept Edition Synthesizer offers a total of 399 Preset Slots, which 150 of those are ready-to play presets and 249 locations are available to save your own sounds. When the synthesizer is turned on, it enters automatically on the Main page. On the Main page, the Menu encoder cycles through the presets.
  • Page 12 OSCILLATORS VCO 1 TUNE: Controls the pitch of the Oscillator 1. The TUNE knob is quantized in semitones with a range of ±2 octaves. WAVE: Controls the Wave-shape of the Oscillator 1. The shape is continuously variable from a Sawtooth, to Square, to Triangle. The positions between the waves blend from one to another by giving control to the balance of each wave.
  • Page 13 SYNC: Activates Hard Sync. When in Hard Sync mode, VCO 2 wave cycle is forced to synchronize to the phase of the wave cycle of VCO 1 . SYNC can achieve harmonically complex waveforms, especially when VCO 2 pitch is set higher than VCO 1 pitch.
  • Page 14 FILTER CUTOFF: Sets the Filter’s Cutoff frequency. Cutoff is the frequency, above which, the harmonic content of a sound is filtered out. The higher the Cutoff setting, the higher the frequencies that are allowed through the Filter, creating a brighter sound. Filter frequency range is from 20Hz to 20kHz.
  • Page 15 LFO: Sets the amount of the modulation from the polyphonic LFO to the Filter’s Cutoff frequency. The LFO is added to the Filter’s Cutoff frequency in a bipolar way, so that the Cutoff control sets the center value that the LFO will modulate around. BASS: Sets the amount of Boost or Cut for Bass Frequencies.
  • Page 16 ENVELOPE A (Attack Time): It is the time required for the Envelope to rise from zero to maximum level when a note is pressed. The higher the attack time, the longer it takes for the modulated target to rise from the initial value set. D (Decay Time): It is the time required for the Envelope to fall from its maximum level (end of Attack) to the Sustain Level.
  • Page 17 AMPLIFIER ENVELOPE This Envelope controls the overall volume characteristics of the sound over time. A (Attack Time): It is the time required for the Envelope to rise from zero to maximum level when a note is pressed. The higher the attack time, the longer it takes for the amplitude to rise to maximum.
  • Page 18 LFOs LFOs are modulation-purpose Oscillators that produce a periodic low frequency, typically below human hearing range. Vibrato (pitch modulation) and tremolo (amplitude modulation) are probably the most classic examples of LFO modulation use. POLYPHONIC LFO RATE: Sets the speed of the LFO. When rotating the knob to the right, it will increase the LFO speed.
  • Page 19 When keyboard tracking is applied, the speed set by the RATE knob will always be at the middle C note. When playing higher notes, it will increase the LFO speed, while playing lower notes, it will decrease the LFO speed. WAVE: The WAVE button will cycle through the following LFO Waves: Sine, Triangle, Saw, Ramp, Square, Random.
  • Page 20 Mind that the LFO amount is applied to the parameter of the knob itself and when set at maximum, it will ‘steal’ the whole range for better handling. *LFO B cannot target Master Level knob as well its own parameters (RATE and AMOUNT knobs). Clear all Target parameters: ●...
  • Page 21 EFFECTS The BBD effect is an analog short delay effect, that can create Chorus Ensemble, Flanger and Comb Filter effects. The circuit is stereo and when tweaking the MASTER SPREAD knob, this will spread the effect on the Stereo Spectrum. AMOUNT: Controls the feedback of the BBD effect from zero to max.
  • Page 22 DELAY With this type of effect you can create reverb, Lo-Fi echo, tape echo, pitch shifting modulations or a standard delay. MIX: Controls the level of the Delay effect. TIME: Sets the Delay Time, from 50ms up to 1s. FEED: Controls the feedback amount. This will set the number of repeats of the delay effect. When feedback is set at high values and time at low values, the effect can resemble to a reverb style effect.

  • Page 24 PLAY MODE POLY: In Polyphonic mode Murmux will act as an 8-voice polyphonic synthesizer. Up to 8 voices can be played at the same time. UNISON: In Unison mode Murmux will act as a monophonic synthesizer (one note can be played at a time) but the 8 voices will be stacked into a single note.
  • Page 25 AFTERTOUCH The Aftertouch parameter allows the use of the keyboard Aftertouch, in order to modulate any of the knobs or sliders of the front panel. Assigning a parameter and setting the modulation amount, works in the same way as the ModWheel parameter. The screen will show “A.F.T.”...

  • Page 27 CONTROLS There are three modes to set how the Controls (knobs & sliders) of the front panel react when their parameters are stored on a preset: JUMP: In Jump mode, tweaking a knob/slider, will force the control value to jump immediately from the stored value to the value set by the knob/slider.
  • Page 28 POLY: These parameters can be controlled polyphonically CC LIST via Polyphonic Aftertouch and Velocity or via CC, Aftertouch, Modwheel and Velocity, when MPE is enabled. All the rest respond in a monophonic manner. PARAMETERS VALUE ModWheel [0 - 127] (POLY) Filter FM [-99 - 99] Filter Env...
