Dear Customer!
Congratulations, you have purchased high quality STIHL leather safety shoes.
The article was subjected to a type approval test by a recognised European inspection
authority (Address see page 2) and fulfils all the fundamental requirements of European
Regulation No 2016/425 and Regulation No 2016/425 on Personal Protective Equipment
as brought into UK law and amended European Regulation 2016/425 on Personal

Safety shoes with protection against cuts by handheld chainsaws correspond to the
requirements of EN ISO 17249:2013+AC 2014 and EN ISO 20345:2011. They do
not only fulfil the basic requirements (SB), but also always correspond to one of the
appropriate additional requirements.
1. Leather Safety Boots with resistance to cuts by handheld chainsaws
IMPORTANT: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE HANDED OUT TO EVERY USER
OF THIS FOOTWEAR.
Information on safety footwear with resistance to cuts by handheld chainsaws:
Personal protective equipment cannot guarantee complete protection against cuts from
handheld chainsaws. Experience has shown that it is possible to design protective
equipment in such a way that a certain level of protection is provided. The protective
effect can be achieved by a number of different means, e.g.
a) Chain or cutting tool slides off the surface so that the material is not cut. This protecti-
ve function may deteriorate on rubber boots after a period of time.
b) Fibers which are pulled into the chain drive sprocket and stop chain movement.
c) Braking the chain by using fibers with a high cut resistance which reduce chain speed
by absorbing kinetic energy.
More than one of these principles is used in many cases. There are three different levels
of protection which, under defined test conditions, correspond to chain speeds of 20
m/s (protection level 1), 24 m/s (protection level 2), or 28 m/s (protection level 3). It is
advisable to select the boots to match the chain speed. It is important that boots and
pants overlap.
Information on safety footwear with resistance to cuts by handheld chainsaws:
To guarantee the maximum possible protection and comfort when using this product, it is
essential to read and observe the following warnings and information:
1. Warning! No protective equipment can provide complete protection against injury
from a power tool (e.g. such as a chainsaw). The level of protection offered depends
on a great number of factors (e.g. engine speed and torque, severity and duration of
contact with the tool, etc.). These safety boots are no substitute for the safe operation
of a power tool. Incorrect use of a power tool can result in accidents. It is therefore
essential to observe all local safety regulations, standards and ordinances as well as
the safety precautions and instructions given in the owner's manual of your power
tool. (Is valid for safety boots with resistance to cuts by handheld chainsaws.)
2. It is important to ensure that these boots fit correctly and comfortably, e.g. check
by trying on. Closure systems on the boots must be used as directed. The use of
