2.2 Regulations and provisions
• Installation (water and electrical installation)
of this appliance, taking into service for the
first time, and maintenance may only be
carried out by a qualified installer, in ac-
cordance with these instructions.
• Perfect function and operational safety can
only be guaranteed if original accessories
and spare parts are used which were inten-
ded for it.
• Regulations and provisions of the local water
supply utility.
• The floor-standing water heater must be
secured to the floor.
The following items are also to be respected:
• The appliance rating plate.
• echnical Data.
• Water installation
Pipe material:
– Cold water pipe
– Cold water pipe
Copper pipe
» Copper pipe
Steel pipe
» Steel or copper pipe
Energy Saving Law (ENEG).
– The hot water pipe must be thermally insu-
lated.
for the qualified installer
– The hot water temperature in the pipe net-
work is to be limited by automatic devices or
other measures to a maximum of 60 °C. This
does not apply to raw water systems which
mandatorily require higher temperatures or
a pipe length of less than 5 m.
– Hot water systems are to be equipped with
automatic devices for disconnecting the cir-
culation pump. In the case of floor-standing
water heaters with circulation pipes, the
circulation pump is to be controlled by the
installation of a timer switch and contact
thermostats if necessary.
2.3 Place of installation
• In an area with no risk of freezing.
• Close to the water tap.
2.4 Removal/fitting of water heater
casing for type SB 302 S and
SB 402 S
The water heater casing is supplied fitted. It can
be removed if the need arises.
The sheathing and the cover must be
fitted before the water connection
and before the circulation pipe if this is to
be fitted, or installation of a BCG heating
element.
The base panel is to be fitted after the sea-
ling tightness test.
2.5 Installation of special acces-
sory components
The polystyrene cover in the lower
flange opening also serves to fix the
sheathing. When installing special accessory
components in the lower flange opening, the
polystyrene cover is to be inserted into the
upper flange opening.
• Install selected special accessories in ac-
cordance with the enclosed operating and
installation instructions.
• Close off flange openings with heat ex-
changer, heating element, blind flange plate,
or screw-in heating element (see special
accessory components, Table 2 page xxx).
• Galvanic separation of the fittings from the
cylinder is to be maintained. If the recom-
mended special accessory components (see
Table 2 page xxx) are used, the insulation
derived from these is guaranteed.
• The thermal insulation in the case of
SB 602 AC, SB 1002 AC and SB 650/3 AC is to
be installed after the water connection (see
„2.9").
2.6 Fitting the thermometer
Insert the thermometer (which is in the swit-
chbox cover when the appliance is supplied) as
far as the stop a , and align it.
2.7 Display element installation /

notes

B
• In the case of the SB 302 S and SB 402 S, the
signal anode is supplied fitted. Remove
transport protection material c . Check dis-
play element b for transport damage!
 In the case of the SB 602 AC and SB 1002 AC,
install the display element:
- Withdraw the red blank while simultaneous-
ly holding down the thrust ring d .
- Push in the open tube end (extension) of the
display element until it reaches the limit
stop e .
- Stick on the „Note - signal anode" sticker at
a readily visible location on the thermal
insulation.
The floor-standing combi-water hea-
ters must not be brought into operati-
on if the display element is damaged.
The SB 302 S / SB 402 S may not be operated
without a display element. When the anode
wears down, water will emerge if the dis-
play element is damaged or missing.
Should the SB 602 AC / SB 1002 AC floor-
standing combi-water heaters be operated
without a signal display, the red plug must
remain in the screw connection.
