1.1 Unit description
The Stiebel Eltron SB 302 S, SB 402 S,
SB 602 AC, SB 1002 AC and SB 650/3 AC
floor-standing combi-water heaters are
combi- heaters for universal use. They are
supplied without fittings and are fitted with
suitable heat exchangers, heating elements,
blind flanges, or screw-in heating elements
by customers, according to requirements (see
Table 2).
Operating guidance is to be taken from the
appropriate operating and installation instruc-
tions.
1.2 Important instruction
• The water storage heater is under
mains water pressure.
• During heating up, water will drip out of
the safety valve.
If water continues to drip out of the safety
valve after heating up has been completed,
the device must be switched off and depres-
surized, and a qualified installer called.
• The blow-out line of the safety valve must
not be closed.
• With temperature settings of greater than
45 °C, water at high temperature may start
flowing immediately.
• If it is intended that children or persons
with restricted physical, sensory, or mental
capacity should operate the appliance, it
must be ensured that this is only done after
appropriate instruction has been provided by
the person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the device - risk of
scalding!
• Have the floor-standing combi-water
heater, the safety group, and the built-in
special accessory components regularly
checked by a qualified installer.
• The steel cylinder is fitted internally with a
special enamel coating to protect it against
corrosion, and also has a protective anode.
– In the case of types SB 302-402 S and SB
602-1002 AC, the protective anode has a wear
display (display element). Once the signal
anode has worn away, moisture reaches the
display element A (3), causing it to change
colour.
If the display element turns red,
please inform your qualified installer
so that he can check the signal anode and
replace it if necessary.

for the user and the qualified installer
– In the case of the SB 650/3 AC, the protec-
tive anode must be checked for the first time
after two years, and if necessary replaced.
The qualified installer, who knows the quality
of the water locally, will tell you when the
next maintenance needs to be carried out.
1.3 Care and maintenance
Maintenance work, such as checking
the electrical safety, may only be car-
ried out by a qualified installer.
• At high temperatures almost all water pre-
cipitates limescale. This forms deposits in
the appliance and affects its function and
service life. The heating elements must
accordingly have the limescale removed
from time to time.
The qualified installer, who is familiar with
the quality of the local water, will advise
you of the time for the next maintenance
inspection.
• A damp cloth is sufficient for caring for the
plastic components. Do not use any abra-
sive or scouring cleaning agents.
