The motor is designed for continuous duty (class S1 according to IEC 60034-1).
2.3 Other plates and markings
On the surface of the pump, there may be other plates, depending on the model,
that identify its features, compliance with rules and regulations or installation, use
and disposal provisions. See the following list.
Pay attention to the risks associated with the product installation,
maintenance and disposal.
Before installing and using the electric pump, carefully read the
instruction manual.
Maximum liquid temperature for use in the domestic, residential,
commercial, agricultural or tertiary sector: 85°C.
Maximum liquid temperature EXCLUSIVELY for industrial use or
equivalent: 120°C.
Tmax 120°C

• The direction of rotation of the functional parts is indicated by the marking
(arrow) on the motor support, see fig. A3.
• The flow direction is indicated by the marking (arrow) on the pump base. See
fig. A3.
2.4 Motor energy efficiency information
All electric pumps use motors compliant with reg. 2019/1781 EC and subsequent
amendments, therefore, compliant with efficiency class IE2 (for rated power up
to 0.55 kW) or IE3 (for higher power). Additional information about motor energy
performance is available online (franklinwater.eu - product data sheet) and on the
motor rating plate.
2.5 Pump energy efficiency information
All pumps comply with Reg. (EC) No 547/2012. The MEI energy efficiency index
is greater than or equal to 0.4 (MEI Benchmark 0.7). Refer to the rating plate
and label attached to this manual for any information regarding the pump. The
machine performance curves, efficiency characteristics and energy performance
details are available online (franklinwater.eu - product data sheet).
3 APPLICATIONS AND USE
3.1 Permitted use
These appliances are designed for professional use in applications such as water
supply from groundwater, pressure increase, irrigation or heat transfer fluid
circulation. They can be used in the industrial, manufacturing or equivalent fields.
The electric pumps can also be used in the domestic, commercial, agricultural,
artisan or tertiary sectors, for the same applications, exclusively at a temperature
not exceeding 85°C.
NOTE: For other applications the maximum temperature allowed is 120°C.
Electric pumps must be installed in dry areas and protected from flooding.
The electric pump can work continuously at the maximum room temperature
indicated on the motor rating plate. For bare shaft pumps, follow the motor
manufacturer's indications.
3.2 Pumped liquids
Clean liquids, compatible with the electric pump component materials. A liquid
must have physical characteristics similar to those of clean water at room
temperature (1030 kg/m
3
maximum density and 2 cPs maximum viscosity. If
these limits are exceeded, contact the manufacturer).
Improper use can result in overheating of the machine and power cables,
with consequences such as failure and potentially fire.
Any sand content in the water must not exceed 50 g/m3. Higher sand
concentrations will reduce the electric pump service life and increase the risk of
blockage. Any suspended solids must not exceed 2 mm in maximum size.
Water intended for human consumption: only models with WRAS certification, at
a maximum temperature of 85°C.
3.3 Conditions of use
• Maximum operating pressure (pump delivery pressure, obtained by the sum of
the pump inlet pressure and the pressure increase supplied by the pump): see
the rating plate. The maximum pressure at the appliance inlet is determined by
the pressure increase created by the pump, so as not to exceed the maximum
operating pressure (see the section dedicated to the calculation).
• Flow rate and head: during normal operation, they must fall within the fields
indicated on the rating plate. Under these conditions, optimal machine
operation is achieved.
• Sucked liquid maximum temperature: 85°C or 120°C depending on use (see
paragraph 3.1).
• Sucked liquid minimum temperature: -30°C (EPDM gaskets); -10°C (Viton®/
FKM gaskets)
• Room temperature: maximum 40°C up to 1000 m altitude. If these limits are
exceeded, contact the manufacturer.
• Electrical supply voltage: refer to the motor rating plate. The maximum
deviation allowed is 6%.
• Maximum number of consecutive hourly start-ups: for electric pumps with
standard motor, see fig. A4 (in the appendix). For bare shaft pumps, follow the
instructions of the motor manufacturer.
3.4 Non-permitted use
Do not use the electric pump for applications other than those described
above and, in any case, not authorised by the manufacturer. Improper use may
cause serious damage (including death) to people, animals, objects and the
environment.
Do not use the electric pump connected to swimming pools, basins,
ponds and in similar places when people are in the water.
