®
PROBLEMS
(SYMPTOMS)
Compressor operating at lower than set
point pressure
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely, contact your
Lincoln Authorized Service Facility for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.

POSSIBLE
CAUSE
4. Faulty inlet or proportional valve.
1. Air demand is too high.
2. Air filter clogged.
3. Faulty inlet or proportional valve.
E-5
TROUBLESHOOTING
RECOMMENDED
COURSE OF ACTION
7. Compressor inlet valve: With the
machine turned off, and having been
verified that all pressure is relieved
from the compressor system, remove
the intake vacuum hose from the
compressor, and verify that the
compressor inlet poppet pushes
open with no effort, and snaps back
closed.
8. Inlet control valve: Air Pressure
stops intermittently or total output
reduced could be due to the
following possibilities:
• N.C. Proportional valve (larger
coil) stuck in open position when
de-energized, due to broken
internal spring or debris that is
preventing the valve from
seating all the way, possibly
intermittently.
• Blowdown solenoid (smaller
coil) is leaking in it's closed
(energized) position due to
broken spring, debris, or seal
wear.
• To diagnose, N.O. unloader valve
(smaller coil) will need energized
with 12V to close. Pressurize the
combination valve manifold inlet
up to 100psi. If air is leaking
past the valves, one of the valves
are leaking in their closed state,
which would cause controlling
air pressure when undesired,
limiting compressor output.
9. Intermittent loss of control signal to
Inlet control valves. The default
non-energized state of this valve
assembly is to not allow the
compressor system to build service
air pressure. Check connector for
bent, displaced, or broken pins.
1. Total air load exceeds 40 CFM at
150 PSI. Consider adding an air
tank or using different tools.
2. Inspect, clean and/or replace the air
filter.
3. Check air tools for wear, damage or
malfunctions.
4. Check the compressor system for
leaks.
