Troubleshooting the installation of any new piece of hardware can be frustrating. Try
the following suggestions if you are having problems installing the ATTO SCSI
Sidekick.
•
Check all cable connections to each device. Verify that all cables are in proper
working condition. Bad cables are usually to blame for SCSI error/problems.
•
Compare the termination of your system to the description in the Termination
section of Chapter 3. Improper termination can be the cause of many problems.
•
Verify that all of the devices attached to the ATTO SCSI Sidekick have unique SCSI
IDs. Remember that the ATTO SCSI Sidekick does NOT occupy a SCSI ID.
•
If the same device shows up at several different SCSI IDs, its SCSI ID is probably
set the same as your SCSI adapter or the cable is defective.
•
Check to see if your external SCSI devices are all plugged into an AC outlet, and are
turned on prior to you powering-up your PC.
•
If a device does not show up: Verify cables and the termination is set properly. Also,
if you are using a Differential to Single-Ended ATTO SCSI Sidekick, be sure that
the differential side is connected to the differential devices and the single-ended side
to the single-ended devices.
•
Check to see that the power connector is attached to ATTO SCSI Sidekick and/or
power source is on.
