168 MAINTENANCE
Checking clutch lever play
Operate clutch lever 1 until
resistance is felt.
Measure the clutch pedal free
play A between the handlebar
fitting and clutch lever in this
position.
Clutch lever play
0.12...0.2 in (3...5 mm) (mea-
sured along the outside of
the clutch lever, handlebars in
the straight-ahead position,
when the engine is cold)
If the clutch pedal free play is
outside of tolerance:
Adjust the clutch lever play.

Adjusting clutch lever play
Loosen lock nut 1.
To increase clutch pedal free
play: Turn the screw 2 into
the handlebar fitting.
To reduce clutch pedal free
play: Unscrew the screw 2
from the handlebar fitting.
Check clutch lever play.

Repeat work steps until clutch
pedal free play is correctly
adjusted.
Tighten lock nut 1.

Checking the coolant level
Park the motorcycle, making
sure the ground is level and
firm.
