Safety in potentially hazardous atmospheres
SIMATIC systems are suitable for use in zones with occasional presence of hazardous gas atmospheres (equipment group II,
Cat. 3, gases, vapors, mists). You can find information, restrictions and special conditions in the respective system manuals.
To avoid damage, determine a suitable installation location and select suitable products. It is mandatory to define the
following points before planning your automation system:

WARNING
Explosion hazard
If work in areas with potentially hazardous atmospheres is not carried out correctly, an explosion may occur. Explosions can
lead to serious personal injury or damage to the plant.
Only suitably qualified specialists are allowed to plan and perform activities in areas with potentially hazardous atmospheres.
In hazardous areas, always de-energize the SIMATIC system before starting activities.
Cleaning
When wired, the product complies with degree of protection IP65/IP67 and does not require any cleaning.
If you do have to clean the product, then use a dry or damp cloth. Take care to comply with the conditions of degree of
protection IP65/IP67 when cleaning with liquids.
Maintenance and repair
The product is maintenance-free. Repairs to the product may only be carried out by the manufacturer.
Recycling and disposal
For environmentally sustainable recycling and disposal of your electronic waste, contact a company certified for the disposal
of electronic waste. Dispose of the product in accordance with the applicable regulations in your country.
