Section 2—2246 Operators
PREPARATION FOR USE
SAFETY
This section telis how to prepare for and to proceed
with
the
initial
start-up
of
the
TEKTRONIX
2246
Oscilloscope.
Refer to the Operator's Safety Summary at the front of
this manual for power source, grounding, and other safety
considerations
pertaining to the use of the instrument.
Before
connecting
the oscilloscope to a power
source,
read both this section and the Safety Summary.
CAUTION
This instrument may be damaged if the wrong line
fuse is installed.
LINE FUSE
To verify the proper value of the instrument's power-
input fuse, perform the following procedure.
1. Press in the fuse-holder cap and release it with a
slight counterclockwise rotation.
2. Pull the cap (with the attached fuse inside) out of
the fuse holder.
3. Verify proper fuse value.
4, Install the proper fuse and reinstall the fuse-holder
cap.
POWER CORD
This instrument has a detachable three-wire power cord
with a three-contact plug for connection to both the power
source and protective ground. The power cord is secured
to the rear panei by a cord-set securing clamp. The pro-
tective ground contact on the plug connects (through the
power
cord
protective
grounding
conductor)
to
the
accessible
metal
parts of the instrument.
For electrical
shock
protection,
insert this plug into a power-source
outlet
that has a properly
grounded
protective-ground
contact.
Instruments
are shipped
with the power-cord option
ordered by the customer (see Figure 2-1). Contact your
Tektronix representative or local Tektronix Field Office for
additional power-cord information.
INSTRUMENT COOLING
To prevent instrument damage from overheated com-
ponents,
adequate
internal
airflow must
be maintained.
