▌Function of ATTENTION ASSIST
%
Depending on the country and equipment,
ATTENTION ASSIST offers microsleep detec-
tion and distraction detection sub-functions.
These functions are available only in conjunc-
tion with the driver camera on the driver's dis-
play (
page 290).
/
ATTENTION ASSIST assists you on long, monoto-
nous journeys (e.g. on highways and trunk roads).
If indicators of fatigue or increasing lapses in con-
centration on the part of the driver are detected,
the system will suggest taking a break.
ATTENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
always detect fatigue or lapses in concentration in
time. The system is not a substitute for a well-res-
ted and attentive driver. On long journeys, take
regular breaks in good time that allow for ade-
quate recuperation.
You can choose between two settings:
Standard: normal system sensitivity.
R
Sensitive: higher system sensitivity. The driver
R
will be warned earlier and the attention level
detected by ATTENTION ASSIST will be adap-
ted accordingly.
If fatigue or increasing inattention is detected, the
following warning will appear on the driver's dis-
play:
ATTENTION ASSIST: Take a
Break!. You can
acknowledge the message and take a break if
necessary. If you do not take a break and ATTEN-
TION ASSIST continues to detect increasing lap-
ses in concentration, you will be warned again
after a minimum of 15 minutes.
If ATTENTION ASSIST is unable to calculate the
attention level and cannot issue a warning, the
System Suspended
message will appear.
If the driver's display shows a warning, a rest area
search will be offered in the multimedia system.
You can select a rest area and start navigation to
this rest area.
When you restart the vehicle, ATTENTION ASSIST
will be switched on automatically. The last selec-
ted sensitivity level will remain stored.
The following information will be shown on the
driver's display:
The length of the journey since the last break
R
The attention level determined by ATTENTION
R
ASSIST:
The more segments

of the circle dis-

detected.
