Scanning the Test Pattern(s)

To scan the Test Pattern:
1. Thoroughly clean the platen glass and place the test pattern
on it.
2. Set up the Scanning Parameters. It is recommended that you
set up the scanning parameters as follows:
NOTE: It is important that scanner settings be precisely the
same when measuring the custom profile as when using the
profile later for production scans.
a. Option>Preferences>Color>ICC Profile: <None>
b. Main GUI, Production Color, scanning from the platen
c. Main GUI, Background suppression: Off
d. Main GUI, Image Type: HF halftone
e. Quality GUI, Brightness, Contrast & Saturation: all
Nominal (0)
f. Quality GUI, Medium-Colorant: Default/Average/
Unknown, regardless of the actual document
characteristics being scanned
3. Using FreeFlow Makeready, scan the Test Pattern and save
the scan.
NOTE: If the ICC Profile building package has the ability to
average multiple scans, the test pattern(s) may be scanned
multiple times to reduce the effect of random variations.
FreeFlow Makeready stores the scanned TIFFs in a .con
directory with the same name as the RDO.
