Hints/Tips
Operating the scanner in a faulted state (yellow light on the control panel
blinking) may result in unpredictable behavior. If the scanner is in a faulted
state, power off the scanner and the workstation, and then power on the
scanner and wait for the "Ready" (green) LED. You can then boot up the
workstation.
When scanning in book mode ("bound original") at resolutions of 300dpi or
lower, using the "Frame" feature will result in an uneven frame around the
page. A workaround for this problem is to widen the frame slightly and shift
the book upward on the platen such that it hangs slightly over the upper
registration edge.
The lower the resolution used to scan images, the greater the chance that
software rounding will occur. This could result in some image loss on the
edges of the paper or in small differences in the resulting size of the image
displayed versus the image programmed.
If IQ Windows have already been established from a prior scan or from an
existing scan ticket, launching IQ windows to view a new image will only
display the location of the IQ windows. In order for the effects of the IQ
window to be applied, "Reprocess" must be selected. Enabling "Image
Quality Preview" will avoid the need to select "Reprocess". This can be
found under [Options: Image Quality Windows].
If the "Main Window" is not set as "Automatic" mode, and an IQ window is
added with the "Automatic" original type selected, that main window will be
darker than if the image were scanned with the "Main Window" set to
"Automatic" mode. At this point you can still adjust that sub-window to
achieve the desired result.
If "Automatically Preview Next Image" is enabled, and the Scan button is
selected, the top 2 sheets in the document feeder will be fed. The first
sheet's scan will be passed to the scanning application, and the second
sheet's scan will be displayed in the Preview Pane.
When previewing images, the file size displayed in the status bar of the
TWAIN driver is the size of the file uncompressed. The actual size of the file
as displayed by the Windows operating system on the host PC will be less,
as this file contains a compressed image.
With "Rotate Image" enabled, combined with: (1) high image content, (2)
high resolution and/or (3) aggressive scaling, the system may hang up and
require termination from the Task Manager. If the system does not hang, irt
is possible that a 56-160 Fault Code will be displayed. Similar images,
lower resolutions, and half-toned images will scan successfully.
