ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
Routine maintenance on the VRTEX should be performed on an as
needed basis dependent on machine usage and environment. The
coupons should be cleaned with a soft cloth if they become dusty or
dirty. Inspect cables for cracks or other heat related issues, replace
as necessary.
HEADSET
Taking proper care of the headset is important for optimal functioning
of the equipment. Occasionally, the headset lens should be wiped
with the lint free lens wipe that is provided. This can be done to
remove fingerprints from the lenses. You can also use a lens cloth
(e.g., from a camera shop). Paper towels or household cloths may
scratch or damage the lenses and should not be used. Avoid exposing
the headset to liquids. Cleaning solutions should not be used to clean
the headset. Do not use Isopropyl alcohol or solutions containing
alcohol to clean the lenses or plastic parts on the headset. You can
also use a camera pressure canister to occasionally blow out dirt.
You may want to clean the inside of the headset occasionally. Be
sure to do so without exposing the headset to any unacceptable
materials, as explained above.
The headset should be kept in a clean and dry location out of
direct sunlight. Avoid dirty or sandy environments, as these can
lead to scratching of optics and damage the headset mechanical
adjustments.
TOUCHSCREEN MONITOR
CAUTION
Use care when cleaning screen. Use only a soft
dry cloth (cotton or flannel). Avoid chemicals and
solvents (alcohol, benzine, acidic or alcazine solvent
cleaners). Avoid granular or abrasive cleaning agents.
BATTERY
The backup batteries (two for each computer unit) are located
behind the access panel on the rear of the machine. See Figures
110 and 111. The "AA" backup batteries can be accessed by using
a T-30 torx nutdriver to remove the two screws and the panel. The
machine must be powered ON when changing the backup batteries.
The batteries should be replaced once a year. These batteries are
required to keep the date and time settings and several startup
parameters in the computer. If these settings are lost contact a
service representative for assistance.
