home page
The first page of a Web site used as an entrance into the site.
honeypot
Programs that simulate one or more network services that you
designate on your computer's ports. An attacker assumes you're
running vulnerable services that can be used to break into the
machine. A honeypot can be used to log access attempts to those
ports including the attacker's keystrokes. This could give you
advanced warning of a more concerted attack.
host
A computer connected to a network.
host route
A setup in which an additional router is behind the Firebox and
one host is behind that router. A host route must be configured to
inform the Firebox of this additional host behind the additional
router.
HostWatch
A WatchGuard Firebox System application that provides a real-
time display of the hosts that are connected from behind the
Firebox to hosts on the Internet.
HTML (HyperText Markup Language)
A set of rules used to format Web pages, including methods to
specify text characteristics, graphic placement, and links. HTML
files are read and interpreted by a Web browser.
HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol)
A communications standard designed and used to transfer
information and documents between servers or from a server to a
client.
HTTPS (Secure HTTP)
A variation of HTTP enabling the secure transmission of data and
HTML files. Generally used in conjunction with Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL).
hub
A device that receives and sends signals along the network
between the nodes connected to it.
