Conserving Battery Power

Follow these guidelines to conserve power.
Turn off the computer by pressing
using it.
Make sure your system suspends automatically. PC Cards, custom
applications, or modified system settings can affect this.
Turn off the backlight (or MaxBright) when you do not need it.
Turn down the backlight brightness.
Unplug peripherals and remove peripheral and network PC Cards
when you are not using them.
Use the SCU to set power management options at levels that will
consume the least amount of battery power.
Use the AC adapter or vehicle adapter whenever possible.
Avoid exposing batteries to extremely hot or cold temperatures for
long periods.
The computer display does not require a screen saver. Using screen
savers consumes valuable battery power and is discouraged unless
the unit is connected to external power and an external monitor.

Optimizing Battery Life

Follow these guidelines to get the most use from your batteries.
Your battery will last longer during the day if it is used and charged
between 10°C and 30°C (50°F and 86°F).
Charge batteries nightly where the temperature will remain around
20°C (68°F).
Set up your system to automatically suspend (turn off) while the
battery is charging.
Keep the display tilted open while the battery is charging to allow
excess heat to escape from the battery compartment and help
prevent the battery from overheating.
Deep cycle discharge batteries every 2-1/2 to 3 months.
