TUNER
DISPLAYING STATION NAMES
If desired, you may memorize station call-letters and display them. In
this case, use the cail-letter mode.
Memorizing with the call-letter mode.
¢ A maximum of four characters can be memorized.
1. Press the POWER switch to the ON position.
2. Tune in the desired station.
|f the desired station already has a STATION CALL No. assigned,
select it using the appropriate STATION CALL switch. (In this case
step 7 can be omitted.)
® If you wish to preset the station and input the station call letters,
use DIRECT ACCESS TUNING or the TUNING switches to select
the desired station. In this case step 7 should not be omitted.
3. Press the STATION NAME switch to put the receiver in the call-
letter mode.
4. Press the TUNING (+, ~) switches to select the desired characters.
¢ When the '' +" of the TUNING switch is pressed, the characters
will change in order, in the direction of the arrow. When the ''—"'
is pressed, the characters will change in reverse direction of the
arrow.

5. Press the MEMORY
switch.
¢ The first character selected will be memorized and the operation
will move to the next character. In this case, the same character
as that previously set will be displayed flashing.
6. By repeating steps 4 and 5 up to four characters can be memorized.
* If you used one of the STATION CALL switches to tune in the
broadcast, the station call-letters you just input will be memorized
along with the station no.
7. (If there is no STATION CALL No.)
Use the appropriate STATION CALL switch to select the STATION
CALL No, (1 — 30) you wish to memorize.
* Both the number you preset with the STATION CALL switches
and the station call letters are memorized.
NOTE:
If the FUNCTION switches are pressed, the setting procedure will be
interrupted and setting will be aborted.

Returning to the TUNER display.
1) Use the STATION CALL switches to select a station.
2) Use the TUNING (+, —) switches to change the received frequency.
* The station name will change to '"TUNER"'.
3) Use the TUNING (+, —) switches to change back to the previous
frequency.
4) Store in memory under the previously selected station number.
® Refer to the 'PRESET TUNING"
section for the memory storage
procedure.
Example: To set the name "JAZZ"

If all four characters are not set, the new name will not be memorized.
if a name has less than four characters, insert a space (""*').
HITS function
Press the HITS switch during station call-letter input and the receiver
performs a memory
scan for other stations in the STATION
CALL
memory which begin with the same letter(s) (one to four characters)
as those you have input (starting from the left). (Each is tuned in for
approximately 5 seconds. Press the HITS switch to cancel.)
If the example above, if you press the HITS switch after step @), then
the receiver will scan stations beginning with the letter ''J"'.
