6. Engine compression
As the engine is pulled over with the
recoil starter, ''cycles'' of resistance
should be felt as each piston goes
past top dead center. If no pulsat-
ing resistance is felt, it suggest a
major loss of compression. Contact
your authorized dealer.
Engine lacks
1.
Fouled or defective spark
Check item 5 of "Engine turns over
acceleration or power
plug
but fails to start.''
2. Lack of fuel to engine
Check item 4 of "Engine turns over
but fails to start."

Carburetor adjustments
Contact your authorized dealer.
4.
Drive belt worn too thin
If the drive belt has lost more than
3 mm {1/8 in) of its original width,
it will affect vehicle performance.
5.
Drive and driven pulleys
Contact your authorized dealer.

6. Engine is overheating
If applicable, check coolant level ;
check pressure cap; check ther-
mostat.
Check for air locks in cooling sys-
tern.
If applicable, check fan belt and its
tension ; clean cooling fins of en-
gine ; if heating persists, contact
your authorized dealer.
