5. Slip the belt out from the drive pulley
and remove completely from vehicle.

To install the drive belt, reverse the pro-
cedure, however pay attention to the
following:
The maximum drive belt life span is
obtained when the belt has the
prop~r
rotation direction. Install it so the print-
ed information on the belt can be read
when facing pulleys.

CAUTION : Do not force or use

tools to pry the belt into place,
as this could cut or break the cords in
the belt.
Drive Belt Condition
Inspect belt for cracks, fraying or abnor-
mal wear {uneven wear, wear on one
side, missing cogs, cracked fabric). If
abnormal wear is noted, probable cause
could be pulley misalignment, exces-
sive RPM with frozen track, fast starts
without warm-up period, burred sheave,
oil on belt or distorted spare belt. Con-
tact your authorized dealer.
Check the drive belt width. If less than
30 mm (1-3/16 inL replace the drive
belt.
New Drive Belt
When installing a new drive belt, break-
in period of 25 km (15 miles) is strongly
recommended.

NOTE : Always store a spare belt
in a manner to allow its natural
shape to be maintained.
Brake Condition
The brake mechanism on your snowmo-
bile is an essential safety device. Keep
this mechanism in proper working con-
dition. Above all, do not operate your
snowmobile without an effective brake
system.
