9.3 Maintenance Schedule

IMPORTANT! For chain saw maintenance requirements,
see the chain saw manufacturer's manual.
Task
Check the engine oil level and quality.
Check the engine fuel level.
Clean the engine around the muffler and controls.
Check that all fasteners are torqued to the specified
torque.
Check that the wheel lug nuts are torqued to the
specified torque.
Remove all debris and entangled material.
Check the drive belt operation.
Check the rotor knife, ledger knife, and twig breaker
sharpness.
Check the battery condition.
Lubricate pivot points and hinges.
Grease the machine.
Check the drive belt tension and alignment.
Check the tire pressure.
Clean the machine.
Clean the engine air filter.

Service the engine exhaust system.
Change the engine oil and replace the oil filter.
Replace the engine spark plug.
Check the valve clearance.
Replace the engine fuel filter.
Service the engine cooling system.
Replace the engine air filter.

Clean the oil-cooler fins.

2 In dusty conditions or when airborne debris is present, clean more often.
3 Every third air filter change, replace the air safety filter.
