4. Using a Phillips screwdriver, fully tighten the screws located on the top and bottom sides of the
blade.

Tightening these screws is required to ensure proper alignment between the blade and the
router backplane.
5. Power on the router as outlined in the ULTRIX-FR12 Installation Guide.
Notice
— The router automatically powers on when power is applied.

Upgrading the Router Software

Upon the initial power up of the router after the hardware upgrade the Alarms table in the
Hardware Configuration interface in DashBoard may report a "
(red indicator), and the Frame Information table in the Hardware Configuration interface reports
a new Firmware version for the newly upgraded slot. To complete the ULTRIX-MODX-IO blade
install, you must upgrade the software and clear the alarm states.

This section is applicable to all Ultrix router models.
