    OPERATION This section provides basic operating instructions, including how to start and stop the vehicle, driving tips and considerations when driving on different roads. Even if you have ridden other scooters, you must take the time to familiarize yourself with how the vehicle operates. Practice in a flat, wide area until you are familiar with the ATV.

    OPERATION BASIC DRIVING GUIDE TRAIL ETIQUETTE Always practice good etiquette when riding. Allow a safe distance between your vehicle and other vehicles in the same area. Communicate with oncoming operators by signaling the number of vehicles in your group. When stopping, move your vehicle to the edge of the trail to allow others to pass safely.

    OPERATION CLUTCH/BELT Proper run-in of the clutch and driving belt will ensure longer service life and better performance. Run the run-in clutch and belt at low speeds for the recommended run-in time by only pulling light loads. Avoid violent acceleration and high speed running during run-in period.

    OPERATION DRIVING ON SLIPPERY SURFACES Whenever riding on slippery surfaces such as wet trails or loose gravel, or during freezing weather, follow these precautions: Do not operate on excessively rough, slippery or loose terrain. 2. Slow down when entering slippery areas. Engage 4X4 before wheels begin to lose traction.

    OPERATION CAUTION Major engine damage can result if the vehicle is not thoroughly inspected after operation in water. Perform the services outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart. The following areas need special attention: engine oil, transmission oil, demand drive fluid and all grease fittings.

    OPERATION When you approach any obstacle, reduce your speed and be prepared to stop. 4. Never try to ride over large obstacles, such as large rocks or fallen logs. Always have a passenger dismount before operating over an obstacle that could cause a fall from the vehicle or vehicle tip over.

    OPERATION BRAKING Release the throttle pedal completely. (When the throttle pedal is released completely and engine speed slows to near idle, the vehicle has no engine braking.) 2.
